USDA Announces Initial 2009-2010 Allocations for Dairy Export Incentive Program

Washington, DC - Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced initial allocations under USDA's Dairy Export Incentive Program (DEIP) for the period July 1, 2009, through June 30, 2010. The program helps U.S. dairy exporters meet prevailing world prices and encourages the development of international export markets in areas where U.S. dairy products are not competitive due to subsidized dairy products from other countries.

Deere & Company Successful in Voluntary Separation Initiative

Moline, Illinois - Deere & Company said today that approximately 800 salaried employees will leave the company as a result of a voluntary separation program announced in April. This total will enable the company to achieve first-year savings of approximately $75 million after a pretax expense of about $100 million primarily in the fourth quarter of 2009. Previously, the company had estimated a pretax expense for the program of $50 million.

Additional Funds Secured for Early Actors in Climate Change Legislation

Washington, DC - The National Corn Growers Association thanked Congressman Frank Kratovil (D-Md.) for his work to secure $1 billion in additional compensation for the nation’s corn growers for certain conservation efforts in the pending climate change legislation.
