Washington, DC - This week members of the Nebraska Corn Board and the Nebraska Cattlemen joined together for an issues trip to Washington. During their stay, participants will be meeting with various members of Congress and Obama Administration officials on mutual issues of interest.

“This annual event is a great way for two major ag commodity groups to represent their interests in Washington, D.C.,” Nebraska Corn Board Ag Promotion Coordinator Kelly Brunkhorst said. “Our two organizations share many common goals for our organizations and it is a positive step for agriculture that our groups continue to work together.”

“It is important for us to speak with a unified voice on our common issues,” Nebraska Cattlemen President Todd Schroeder said. “Nebraska’s cattle producers and corn growers share many concerns, and it benefits both industries when we work together to find solutions.”

During the joint trip, the two groups will met with every Nebraska member of the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. On Tuesday, the group also met with U.S. Department of Agriculture Chief Economist Joe Glauber and attended a dinner meeting with staff from the National Corn Growers Association and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
